where does my driver meet me at Heathrow?

Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts, which is the road right outside the doors. So your pre-booked driver will meet you inside arrivals, or wait at a car park close to the terminal. Your booking message should tell you which one. If it doesn’t, call your driver as soon as you land.

Heathrow Terminal Pick Up Guide: Terminal by Terminal

These are Heathrow’s official meeting points. Use them if your driver says “meet at the meeting point”.

Terminal Where to go
Terminal 2 Just outside the international arrivals exit
Terminal 3 The seating area on the arrivals ground floor
Terminal 4 Next to WHSmith in arrivals, ground floor
Terminal 5 Two meeting points: north (opposite Travelex) and south (near Costa Coffee)

Terminal 5 tip: Always ask your driver whether they are at the north or the south point. This is the easiest place to wait in the wrong spot.

Why Can’t My Driver Wait Outside the Door?

Cars are not allowed to wait on the terminal forecourts to collect passengers. Cars left unattended can be removed by the police.

Instead, pick-ups happen in two places:

  • Terminal Parking (the old Short Stay car park). It is close to the terminal. The first 29 minutes cost £8.
  • Park & Ride (the old Long Stay car park). The first 29 minutes are free. A shuttle bus runs to the terminal.

Private hire drivers can also wait in a special Authorised Vehicle Area before they collect you. This is why your driver may ask you to wait a few minutes after you land. It is not a mistake. It is how Heathrow works.

Terminal 4 Has Changed

The Terminal 4 multi-storey car park closed on 23 June 2026 for building work. Pick-ups there now work differently:

  • A Priority Pick-Up Area right outside the terminal costs £7 for up to 10 minutes and £14 for 11 to 29 minutes.
  • Zone A of the Park & Ride is free for pick-ups.

Many older guides do not mention this change. If you land at Terminal 4, check your driver’s message for the exact meeting spot.

What If I Can’t Find My Driver?

This happens to many travellers, and it is easy to fix.

  1. Stay inside arrivals, near the meeting point for your terminal.
  2. Check your booking message for your driver’s name, phone number and car details.
  3. Call your driver and say which terminal you are in and what shop you can see.
  4. Ask whether you should wait where you are or walk to a car park.
  5. If you can’t reach your driver, call the company’s office.

Practical Tips for an Easy Pick-Up

  • Give your flight number when you book. That way the booking can match your real landing time.
  • Know your terminal before you land. Check your ticket or your airline app.
  • Allow time after landing. Passport control and baggage reclaim can take a while, especially at busy times.
  • Save your driver’s number before you fly. It is much easier than searching your email in a crowded hall.
  • Travelling with children, a pram or lots of luggage? Tell us when you book so we send the right car.
  • Need step-free access or extra help? Tell us when you book, so we can plan the best meeting spot with you.

Late Flights and Night Arrivals

If your flight is late, tell your driver when you land. If you land at night, it is even more important to know your exact meeting point, so you are not waiting alone in the wrong place.

Heathrow’s drop-off areas also have a strict 10-minute limit and a £7 charge, which is another reason drivers prefer clear, planned meeting spots.

Heathrow Airport to Leatherhead: What Happens After Pick-Up

Once you meet your driver, the journey to KT22 is simple. Most trips head onto the M25 and then towards Leatherhead. The drive is usually around 40 to 50 minutes, but it can take longer at rush hour.

You don’t need to carry bags onto a train or wait for a bus. Your driver takes you straight to your front door, which is especially helpful after a long flight.
